UPDATE: May 21st, 2020
2019-‘20 LUHS School Year Wrap-Up Information and Remote Learning Schedule: 5/26/20-6/4/20
2019-’20 School Year Wrap-up Information:
  • Reminder that there is a remote Homeroom session on Friday, May 22nd at 9:45 am.  Please check in with your homeroom teacher one last time for the year to receive important end of the school year information.
  • Teachers will have lesson plans and student expectations posted for the week by 8 am on Tuesday morning, 5/26
  • Friday May 29th is the last day of remote teaching/instruction.
  • 9th, 10th, and 11th-grade students will be allowed to submit school work (late assignments, makeup work, etc) up through 12 noon on Thursday, June 4th
  • Students (and/or parents) can pick up any personal belongings left at school (P.E. clothes, locker contents, art projects, etc.) AND drop off school-owned items (textbooks, chrome books, Library books, etc) at LUHS from June 1st through June 4th.  Pick-up and Drop-off hours will be from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm all four days.
  • Students (and/or parents) picking up and returning items to school should remain in their vehicles.  Inform the attendant(s) at the LUHS North Entrance (Hwy. 70 sides) of student name(s), and they will provide any items that were left at school
  • Please label items you are returning to school (Chromebooks, textbooks, library books, etc) with student(s) name and student ID number.  This can be done with a piece of tape, or a post-it note if tape may damage the item.  This is important so that credit is given to the student for item(s) returned.
  • IF you are a 9th, 10th, or 11th-grade student that needs a LUHS Chromebook to catch up on and submit school work after 5/29- we’d encourage you to turn in your Chromebook later in the week (Wednesday, 6/3 or Thursday, 6/4) after you’ve completed and submitted your school work

Good Afternoon LUHS District Students and Families-

This is Principal Justin Szews with some informational updates.
CLASS OF 2020 - Updates
Senior specific updates:

We have yard signs for the Class of 2020, and yearbooks have arrived.  So, next week Seniors can stop by the north entrance of the high school for curbside pick up of their yard sign and yearbook.  Pick-up hours will be 10am to 2pm on Monday, May 18th , Tuesday, May 19th, and Thursday, May 21st.

The last week of school, and the deadline for reaching graduation requirements is quickly approaching.  May 28th is the date that all virtual and credit recovery courses needed for graduation must be completed.  Many classes will be completed earlier in the week, but May 29th is the final day of any instructional activities in all courses.
Also I want to remind seniors that if you cannot make the July 26th rescheduled graduation ceremony, please notify Ms. Weldon via email ( ) asap, so that we can finalize our plan for an alternative way that we can honor your accomplishments as an LUHS Grad.

The last day of instruction for our remote learning program will be on Friday, May 29th.   The week of June 1st students will pick up their personal belongings (locker contents, phy ed clothes, etc) and turn in their textbooks, LMC materials, and chrome books.  More specific information on the schedule for this will be available next week.  Also during the week of Jun 1st:  9th, 10th, and 11th-grade students will be allowed to turn in academic work if need be.

In addition, I want to notify you that the National Guard and Oneida County are hosting a COVID 19 test site in the LUHS parking lot on Wednesday, May 20th from 11 am to 7 pm.  Testing is free, and anyone with even slight symptoms is encouraged to be tested.

Stay safe- Be Well, and have a great weekend!

UPDATE: Tuesday, March 17th - 2:58 pm

Greetings LUHS District Staff, Families and Community:

The Situation surrounding COVID-19 is changing rapidly and thus, federal, state, local and District response changes just as quickly.  We are increasingly being urged to practice social distancing and observe good hygiene to prevent the spread of the virus.

LUHS District has developed its school closure plan with the health of our students and staff having the highest priority.

The plan is as follows:

Monday, March 16th, 2020

  • Lakeland Union High School District cancelled all facility usage, practices, games, meetings, and trainings. Our building will be closed until at least Monday, April 6th, 2020. Coaches and/or advisors will not encourage or organize their group assembling to practice or meet physically anywhere.

Tuesday, March 17th, 2020

  • Planning Day for staff.  District staff members will work to share digital learning resources with families

Wednesday, March 18th, 2020

  • Planning day for staff.  Last staff attendance day. District staff members will work to share digital learning resources with families
  • Lakeland Union School District will provide bagged breakfast and lunch meals to students during the school's closure.  Beginning Wednesday, March 18, 2020, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, meals for Lakeland Union High School, STAR School, and STAR Academy students will be distributed along the glass atrium to the Commons (located near the football field).  Please have your student's name and Student ID number ready and do not leave your vehicle for distribution - a member of the LUHS Food Service staff with deliver the meals directly to you.

Thursday, March 19th, 2020 – Friday, April 3rd, 2020

Digital learning resources will be available online.  Students should check their google classrooms, teacher websites as well as their school emails.  Teachers will be communicating with students.

During this very difficult time, I hope we can work together and continue to look out for each other and for those who are most vulnerable among us. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

UPDATE: March 13th, 2020 - 12:19 pm

Dear Staff, Parents and Community Members,

As we near the end of spring break the Lakeland Union High School District continues to actively monitor the evolving situation with the coronavirus (COVID-19).  We have been in contact with the Oneida County Health Department and continue to receive guidance from the county, state, and federal health departments as the situation continues to develop. The Lakeland Union High School District’s number one priority is the health, safety, and well being of all students. If you or your child has traveled for spring break or for other reasons, the following guidance has been provided to us from the county and state agencies:

  • If you have traveled or planning to travel to any international areas visit https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/after-travel-precautions.html:

    • If you traveled to a Level 3 Travel Health Notice Country

      • Stay home for 14 days from the time you left an area with widespread, ongoing community spread (Level 3 Travel Health Notice countries) and practice social distancing.

    • If you only spent time in an airport in a Level 3 Travel Health Notice Country

      • At this time, you are not being asked to quarantine yourself if your only time in a Level 3 country was in an airport.  However, if you have COVID-19 symptoms, contact your healthcare provider.

    • If you traveled to a Level 2 Travel Health Notice Country
