Chromebook Check out - Monday, March 23rd - 1 pm - 6 pm
If you have internet connectivity at your home, and if you indicated on the recent survey that you need a device to work on school work- please stop by LUHS to check out a Chromebook.

Check out will happen at the High School Office entrance on the north side of the building. Parents and students must drive up, stay in their cars, provide staff with their student identification number and student email address to check out a Chromebook that they can take home. When checking out Chromebooks, parents and students must remain inside their cars to maintain social distancing.

Due to the Governor's impending shelter in place order, there is a limited time that we will be able to check out devices.  Laptop Checkout will be available today, March 23rd, from 1-6 PM.

Stay safe and be well!

UPDATE: Tuesday, March 17th - 2:58 pm

Greetings LUHS District Staff, Families and Community:

The Situation surrounding COVID-19 is changing rapidly and thus, federal, state, local and District response changes just as quickly.  We are increasingly being urged to practice social distancing and observe good hygiene to prevent the spread of the virus.

LUHS District has developed its school closure plan with the health of our students and staff having the highest priority.

The plan is as follows:

Monday, March 16th, 2020

  • Lakeland Union High School District cancelled all facility usage, practices, games, meetings, and trainings. Our building will be closed until at least Monday, April 6th, 2020. Coaches and/or advisors will not encourage or organize their group assembling to practice or meet physically anywhere.

Tuesday, March 17th, 2020

  • Planning Day for staff.  District staff members will work to share digital learning resources with families

Wednesday, March 18th, 2020

  • Planning day for staff.  Last staff attendance day. District staff members will work to share digital learning resources with families
  • Lakeland Union School District will provide bagged breakfast and lunch meals to students during the school's closure.  Beginning Wednesday, March 18, 2020, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, meals for Lakeland Union High School, STAR School, and STAR Academy students will be distributed along the glass atrium to the Commons (located near the football field).  Please have your student's name and Student ID number ready and do not leave your vehicle for distribution - a member of the LUHS Food Service staff with deliver the meals directly to you.

Thursday, March 19th, 2020 – Friday, April 3rd, 2020

Digital learning resources will be available online.  Students should check their google classrooms, teacher websites as well as their school emails.  Teachers will be communicating with students.

During this very difficult time, I hope we can work together and continue to look out for each other and for those who are most vulnerable among us. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

UPDATE: March 13th, 2020 - 12:19 pm

Dear Staff, Parents and Community Members,

As we near the end of spring break the Lakeland Union High School District continues to actively monitor the evolving situation with the coronavirus (COVID-19).  We have been in contact with the Oneida County Health Department and continue to receive guidance from the county, state, and federal health departments as the situation continues to develop. The Lakeland Union High School District’s number one priority is the health, safety, and well being of all students. If you or your child has traveled for spring break or for other reasons, the following guidance has been provided to us from the county and state agencies:

  • If you have traveled or planning to travel to any international areas visit https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/after-travel-precautions.html:

    • If you traveled to a Level 3 Travel Health Notice Country

      • Stay home for 14 days from the time you left an area with widespread, ongoing community spread (Level 3 Travel Health Notice countries) and practice social distancing.

    • If you only spent time in an airport in a Level 3 Travel Health Notice Country

      • At this time, you are not being asked to quarantine yourself if your only time in a Level 3 country was in an airport.  However, if you have COVID-19 symptoms, contact your healthcare provider.

    • If you traveled to a Level 2 Travel Health Notice Country

      • At this time, individuals are not being asked to quarantine themselves.  As a precaution, you should limit your interactions with other people and large groups for 14 days after you return.  However, if you have COVID-19 symptoms, contact your healthcare provider.

  • If you traveled or planning to travel out-of-state:

    • Visit https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/cases-in-us.html

    • Place your cursor over the map of the United States of America under “States Reporting Cases of COVID-19 to CDC*”.  If the State has a pop-up that states “Sustained Community Transmission: Yes”, then individuals will have to complete a 14-day voluntary self-quarantine.

  • If you traveled in-state:

    • At this time, you are not being asked to quarantine yourself however, if you have COVID-19 symptoms, contact your healthcare provider.

Note: Because this changes quickly, verify travel destinations closer to the time of departure. Different countries in Europe were added to Level 3 after the State came out with their guidance: https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/notices/warning/coronavirus-europe

General Resources:

CDC: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/index.html

As a district, we will continue to monitor the situation and update you as we receive more information from the different health agencies.

Sincerely,

Mr. Robert Way

District Administrator
