Algebra/Geometry B                                                          CREDIT VALUE: One credit
PREREQUISITES: Placement by Math Department or successful completion of Alg/Geom A

What you will learn in this course:
This is a full year course that includes five units: exponents and functions, quadratics, radical functions and geometry, rational functions, and statistics and probability.  In the first unit, students will study a variety topics ranging from simplifying exponential functions to exploring geometric sequences.  The succeeding units all stress equation solving techniques while weaving concepts of geometry, statistics and probability into the lessons.  Students receive a very well-rounded course which fulfills requirements to teach state standards.

How you will learn in this course:
The basic driver of this course is the Algebra 1 textbook with some supplemental teacher made units in geometry and statistics. The students will learn through lecture, discussion, homework problem sets, and both formative and summative assessments. Completion of daily homework problem sets is critical to student achievement in Algebra/Geometry B.

Why this course is important:
Algebra/Geometry B will provide students with the foundational math skills used in the study of algebra and geometry.  Students will also be challenged to develop 21st century skills such as critical thinking and creative problem solving while working to become college and career ready in mathematics.
