AP® Biology enables students to pursue college-level studies while still in high school. AP Biology provides willing and academically prepared students with the opportunity to earn college credit and/or advanced placement. AP Biology is modeled upon a comparable college course. AP Biology concludes with a college-level assessment developed and scored by college and university faculty as well as experienced AP teachers. AP Exams are an essential part of the AP experience, enabling students to demonstrate their mastery of college-level course work.

Students will develop enduring understandings (EU) within the conceptual framework for AP Biology by connecting and gathering a deep understanding and application for the four Big Ideas. The Big Ideas to be covered:
Big Idea 1 (BI1): The process of evolution drives the diversity and unity of life.
Big Idea 2 (BI2): Biological systems utilize free energy and molecular building blocks to grow, to reproduce, and to maintain dynamic homeostasis.
Big Idea 3 (BI3): Living systems store, retrieve, transmit, and respond to information essential to life processes.
Big Idea 4 (BI4): Biological systems interact and these systems and their interactions possess complex properties.
