What you will learn in this course:
Creative Writing is a one-semester course that develops each individual student's creativity, originality and style through the writing of journal entries, short stories, poetry, personal narratives and other creative writing activities.
How you will learn in this course:
In addition to developing personal writing skills, students will also develop skills in evaluating the quality of creative writing through reading and listening to the writing of others. Students will have the opportunity to write, revise, read, edit, discuss, display and present their writing and the writing of others in the class.
Why this course is important:
The course provides an opportunity to develop students’ creative voices in a non-threatening, workshop environment. The course reinforces the development of the Six Plus One Traits of effective writing: ideas, organization, voice, word choice, sentence fluency, conventions and presentation.
