2016-17 T-Birds

Welcome to the LUHS Boys' Basketball website.  My name is Rich Fortier.  I am currently in my fifth year as the head coach at Lakeland.  We will enter the season with four guys back from a team that posted a 16-8 record.  Brandt, Tavian, Mason, and Connor all return looking for larger roles on our team.  That's not to say we don't have other worthy components to our team.  We do. Michael, Gunnar, TJ, Josh, and Devan will all be hoping to impact our games in a positive manner.  Our hope is to continue to play a fast-paced, exciting brand of basketball that will be very enjoyable to watch.  I know the boys enjoy this type of play as well.

Our assistants bring many years of experience working with young people.  While you might not see Ted Voigt on the sidelines this year, rest assured knowing that he is still firmly entrenched as a volunteer on our staff.  His expertise in scouting, scheduling, and working with kids are all still being utilized by me to help our students at LUHS.  Brian Maki coached two teams that ended their respective seasons in Madison.  There are two balls (one gold, one silver) in the trophy case to prove it.  Brian will be coaching our JV 1 team.  Mike Mestelle is coaching our JV 2 team.  We are excited to continue to have Mike's many years of experience (in many different sports) on our staff.  Ed Johnson is coaching our JV 3 team.  He is eager to hone his basketball acumen, while maintaining his skill in working with young adults. Jason Kranz continues to assist our team with many managerial and assistant coaching duties.  Gordon McGee has been added to our staff as a volunteer assistant as well.  Barry Seidel serves as the technology person that I need for all kinds of things, including keeping the content of this site current.  I am thankful for the quality men that make up our staff.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have regarding our program.

Thank you,

Rich Fortier
