Welcome to the Special Education Department Webpage!

This department is one of the largest departments at LUHS with eight certified special needs teachers and eleven support staff - including our school psychologist, speech & language pathologist, and vision impairment specialist.

The goal of the Special Education Department is to ensure that a free and appropriate public education program is made available to all students with special needs in accordance with the least restrictive environment concept. Special education and related services shall be available to all special needs students until completion of their educational program through graduation, achievement of I.E.P. objectives, or attainment of age 21, whichever occurs first.
