Hallo, ich heiBe Kathleen Peterson und bin Deutschlehrerin bei LUHS seit 2001. In meiner Freizeit laufe ich ski.
Ich wandere und fische auch gern.
Ich spiele auch gern mit meinen Kindern,die 12,8, und 5 Jahre alt sind. Ich liebe auch meinen Mann, Ty, der sehr nett und intelligent ist!

COURSE: 14111 GERMAN I

DESCRIPTION: German I is designed to in¬troduce the student about how to learn a world language such as German and also about the culture of German-speaking Europe. Emphasis is on listening to and speaking the German language. Therefore, students learn vocabulary and phrases in order to be able to function and compre¬hend German in daily German speaking situations. German I focuses on the themes of self, friends, family, hobbies, school, and travel, and cultural concepts are intertwined throughout these themes.

COURSE: 14211 GERMAN II

DESCRIPTION: German II is a continuation of German I. Students build on German I themes with the opportunity to express ideas more freely within the German II framework. Vocabulary, grammar, and cultural concepts are also increased.

PREREQUISITES: Must pass German I

COURSE: 14311 GERMAN III

DESCRIPTION: German III emphasizes writ¬ing skills in addition to listening and speaking. Students begin reading more in-depth materials and use those mater¬ials as a basis for speaking and writing. Vocabulary, grammar and cultural concepts continue to be covered.

PREREQUISITES: Must have passed German II

COURSE: 14611 AP GERMAN LANGUAGE IV

DESCRIPTION: A course in AP German Language, emphasizing use of the language for active communication, strives to develop: strong command of vocabulary and structure; understanding of spoken German in various conversational situations; ability to read newspaper and magazine articles, contemporary fiction, and nontechnical writings without the use of the dictionary; and fluency and accuracy in expressing ideas orally and in writing. Preparation will take place for the AP exam through various methods including writing, reading, listening and speaking.

OPEN TO: All grade levels
PREREQUISITES: Must have passed German III with a grade of “C” or better or teacher consent.





German Club is another activity that students can get involved in if they take German at LUHS. There are trips to Europe every other year. The students just recently took a trip to Germany, France and Switzerland in June of 2014. THE NEXT TRIP IS JUNE 2016...START PLANNING NOW!
